A Little Guidance Goes a Long Way
By: Joe Lazar, Co-Founder & Principal
Sometimes the thing holding up progress is a fairly small question. Where do we start? What information should we pull together? What should we have figured out before bringing someone in? Those questions can sit unanswered for weeks when everyone already has a full plate.
We’ve been working on something new at Omni to help with that. We’re calling it Field Guides, a collection of practical guides and toolkits built around specific tasks and decisions. Our Small Nonprofit Grant Organization Kit helps organizations get their information organized and put a workable process around pursuing funding.
We’re creating these because we think smaller pieces of guidance could be useful to our clients and other organizations doing this work. A clear framework, a useful checklist, or a few well-placed questions can help someone get moving, especially when they have the people to do the work but need some structure.
We’re excited to open our online shop soon and get these into your hands, with other kits in development focused on nonprofit operations and technology operations. Have a challenge you’d like to see a Field Guide tackle? Let us know. We’d love to hear what would be useful to you.
